When Shlomo and Pnina Gruer left Zimbabwe, Africa in 1987 and founded South Sun, they embarked on a new adventure. Shlomo’s passion for world traveling began in his early 20s, and to this day he enjoys spending his time traveling the world, searching cultures for inspiration. Seeing the beauty in all, Shlomo and his team of seven work together to create custom jewelry lines in order to serve all of their clients’ needs. This extraordinary group is composed of gemologists, metalsmiths, and artists. Together they bring unique fashions to their customers combining quality and beauty for any woman’s style.  South Sun prides itself on staying current with the upcoming trends. Each design begins with a simple thought and true inspiration from the artists, then transforms into a unique, wearable piece of art. Working closely with Shlomo, South Sun jewelers utilize century-old techniques from the countries by which the designs were originally inspired. Production is executed by skilled craftsmen, who specialize in each technique in factories located in Indonesia, Africa, Thailand, Mexico, China, India and also the United States. With pride, their small production team of experienced craftspeople are able to hand-make most beaded designs locally in San Diego. This team’s skillful workmanship is apparent by their standards of quality.

Known for sterling silver fashion-forward beaded necklaces, bracelets, and a variety of unique opaque gemstone designs in the season’s colors. Both trendy or clean and classic stylings are available each season. In 2008, South Sun branched out from sterling silver and genuine stone to expand into the world of unique and affordable fashion jewelry in order to suit a variety of demographics.

South Sun creates a balance of value with an afforable price point, utilizing only the best materials and fusing them together with genuine stones and/or glass. All of South Sun fashion jewelry is made from lead-free base metals, which are available in an assortment of colors and finishes.
